We recently reported how DiamondCoin was getting a re-launch in the near future.
Changes would include Proof-of-Stake, and a change in the mining algorithm. This update is happening right now, and here are the details.
The reason why the DiamondCoin re-launch happened today, is because there were some issues on the old network yesterday. This lead to the decision to implement the hard fork today, so everyone needs to update their client as soon as possible.
So what is actually changing?
- Proof-of-Stake implemented and enabled
- Mining algorithm has been changed to Groestl, instead of Scrypt
We are currently still waiting for the new DiamondCoin client to be released, but it should be happening somewhere during the day. As of right now, the DMD development team is in talks with Cryptsy to have both deposits and withdrawals frozen.
