NooCoin

The NooCoin project encompasses far more than just another digital currency, as it will also serve as the payment gateway for Nootropics. As most of our readers will be unfamiliar with the term Nootropics, we will explain that first, and then see how NooCoin is involved in all of this.

It’s not often cryptocurrency gets associated with a new phenomena, especially not when it is something pharmaceutical. Nootropics can be labelled as a new “smart drug”. Don’t go off your rockers just yet, as this has nothing to do with drug smuggling or anything like that.

Nootropics offer powerful cognitive effects, with few to zero side effects. Over the past few years, a lot of research has been done on the topic of Nootropics, and different kinds have been developed and made available on the market.

Some of the types of Nootropics will positively influence creativity, motivation or even anti-aging. With the wide range of Nootropics available today, each and every one of us can reach their full potential and more.

Nootropics offer many benefits, and the NooCoin team’s mission is expanding their business and spreading the word about this new pharmaceutical solution. The long term goal is for NooHack to become the worlds go-to nootropic store, accepting customers from Europe, and eventually, anywhere in the world.

Extensive research is being done in regards to optimum “stacks” of nootropics, and proprietary blends of the finest ingredients will be launched in the near future. he NooCoin team wants to give their customers the cutting edge when it comes to cognitive enhancement technology.

NooHack’s mission is to give customers options. As a result of that philosophy, a payment system which allows for the next generation of payments to be accepted in the form of NooCoin or Bitcoin has been created. Customers will be rewarded in NOO for every GBP spent at the store.

As a customer, you will have several advantages, such as receiving generous discounts when using either Bitcoin or NooCoin to make your purchases. These discounts are the fees saved in processing fiat payments, which are in turn used to directly reward customers.

NooHack has a pretty simple and straightforward payment system : customers who prefer to pay in fiat currency will pay the recommend retail price of Nootropic products. Bitcoin customers on the other hand pay the retail price in BTC, but with a 10% discount. NooCoin customers will receive a 25% discount on the retail price.

NooCoin was conceived as a way to empower the NooHack business strategy with the power of blockchain technology. One of the most interesting aspects about the blockchain is the ability to decentralize payment processing, As a result of this ability, both the merchant and the customer save a lot of money , which leads to big discounts while shopping.

But that is just the beginning, as blockchain technology also allows for layers of anonymity when purchasing goods with NooCoin. While Nootropics are a physical product which will be shipped to your address, no one has to know what wallet address you were using when making the payment, or how much you actually paid for that matter.

Furthermore, because digital currencies are decentralized, the market controls the price they want to pay for products. While there will always be a minimum price to be met, the value of your payment method, whether Bitcoin or NooCoin, is determined by the market. The less coins you have to spend to buy your product, the better for everyone, which is an incentive in its own right.

Noohack will not be putting any merchant selling pressure on the market. In saying that, this means that all cryptocurrency payments will be held by the NooHack owners, instead of selling them on exchanges in return for Bitcoin and/or fiat currencies. This will keep the prices stable , which will in turn benefit the market.

While it may seem like a risky move to hold onto all of the coins being spent on your platform from a merchant point of view, it is a good approach in my book. As long as you can keep your business afloat without selling off (too much) cryptocurrency, there is no real reason to sell them at all. Whether or not this will play out in such a positive manner, remains to be seen.

By adopting this business strategy, NooHack and NooCoin are catering towards potential investors who want to see the value of their investments grow, Most digital currency investments require you to make a profit in the short run, before people start dumping their coins. This will not be the case with NooCoin by the looks of things, which will be a very interesting project to keep an eye on.

A project of such magnitude requires proper funding in order to become a reality. The Nootropic market is a niche market, but the awareness is growing thanks to popular movies such as “Lucy” and “Limitless”. In fact, one could say Nootropics are taking a foothold as we speak.

Our society has evolved into a very demanding and time-efficient way of life. Productivity levels are subject to a high standard, and we are still trying to raise the bar higher and higher. Nootropics provide this boost in cognitive ability which most of us would never be able to achieve on our own.

By buying Nootropics, you are investing into the betterment of not just your own productivity levels, but also helping other people achieve their full potential. All of this will lead to a more efficient use of the available time, and as we all know, time is money, money, money.

In order to raise the required funds for this project, NooCoin will hold an Initial Coin Offering (ICO), during which the total coin supply of 25 million NOO will be up for sale. A fixed price has been set at 0.00001000 BTC per NooCoin, and the team is hoping to raise 250 Bitcoin (assuming all of the coins will be sold).

The next step on the NooCoin roadmap successfully finishing the Initial Coin Offering on December 22nd. After that period, customers will be able to pre-order Nootropics by paying in NooCoin and/or Bitcoin within 24 hours after the ICO closed. (See more information on pre-orders below).

A giveaway will be held for the first 100 NooHack customers, who will all receive 250 NooCoin each. These coins will be redeemable in the NooHack store, and can be used towards future Nootropics purchases. You can consider this a Loyalty Bonus, which will be credited to your account instantly.

All of the pre-orders will be fulfilled by January 15th, and I assume this means they will all be shipped by that date as well. We have not received any details yet in regards to shipping costs, and how the product will be packaged , but we will keep an eye out for further information in that regard.

The first marketing events will take place on January 24th, in London. I am curious to find out what these marketing efforts will entail exactly, but we will get in touch with the NooCoin team to find out more details very soon.

During the months of January and February, we will see a new feature being added to the NooHack platform. An integrated NooCoin/Bitcoin exchange will be added , giving customers the option to choose between a 10% discount or a 25% discount.

In order to use the full potential of that integrated exchange, we also need an in-store wallet supporting both digital currencies. That wallet will be coming to NooHack as well, which will be very close to the release of the integrated exchange.

As more and more people are buying goods via their smartphone, it is a good idea to have a mobile-ready store. NooHack will get its very own mobile store between January and February 2015, and I assume it will also have the integrated exchange and in-store wallet.

The shipment of NooTropics to European countries is the final point of action on the current NooCoin development roadmap. The official date for this option is set on August 15th, which has to due with some paperwork that needs to be filed I assume. I will get in touch with the team to inquire about the reason behind this schedule soon.

When you place your pre-order, you are buying products from batch one. Why is this done, you might ask? The NooCoin team feels the first batch will sell out relatively quickly due to competitive pricing and unique acceptance of NOO/Bitcoin as payment methods.

Pre-orders will ensure customers get served on a first come, first served basis. But there is another reason for opening up shop this way, as the amount of pre-orders will help gauge the market and analyse which products are more popular compares to others. After all, part of running a shop selling physical goods is forecasting which products to stock at what time.

Customers can deposit a minimum of 10% of the order amount in order to initiate the pre-order process. If your pre-order is fully paid by January 5th, and you have a batch one order, your order will be fulfilled on the 8th and shipped to your door.

Pre-orders can be refunded if a customer no longer has interest in fulfilling their order. A “cancel order” option will be available on the NooHack platform, and the original funds will be refunded to the wallet address provided. Any pre-orders which are not paid in full by January 5th will be cancelled automatically, and refunded to the supplied wallet address.

While we have mentioned how both Bitcoin and NooCoin can be used to pay for your orders, there is a third payment method available in the form of Paypal. Prices will be automatically adjusted to take discounts into account when paying in either BTC or NOO, and they will also adjust to fluctuations in the BTC/GBP & NOO/GBP values.

Last but not least, orders can only be paid in one currency at a time. For example, you cannot pay a deposit in Bitcoin, and the rest in NooCoin. or vice versa.

Discus Fish 20000 NameCoins donation

Discus Fish provided the developers with 20,000 Namecoins to fund a reimplementation based on mainline Bitcoin. According to the developer blog, Christmas officially came early for Namecoin.

Chances are the majority of cryptocurrency users have no need to know the largely technical details of Namecoin. However, Namecoins are a key component to an open and decentralized internet system.

Namecoin is a system that works on the back-end of the Internet, in a sense. Its code is nearly identical to Bitcoin, but Namecoin is the ground level for a decentralized domain name system (DNS), also known as web URLs.

When typing a URL into your browser, the URL takes you straight to the website you’re traveling to; typically in a .com form. The .com URLs are called top-level domains (TLD) controlled by ICANN in the United States, making them a centralized form of internet browsing. Because the domains are subject to centralization, they risk being subject to censorship by the central authority as well; something Namecoin disrupts with their system.

Namecoin allows users to register domains using .bit addresses, making the domains independent of ICANN. The URLs are inaccessible by traditional browsers because they are not part of the traditional domain name system, but there are .bit web proxy servers along with Chrome and Firefox extensions.

HunterCoin

Huntercoin is a(n) truly innovative alt-coin which features a dual SHA-256 and scrypt traditional mining system along with a truly unique gaming graphical interface through which people can control in-game characters to collect coins.

According to the developers, Huntercoin is “an experiment in decentralized (server-less) peer to peer gaming.” It’s called ‘Huntercoin’ because of the way that gamers are actually hunting for coins within the games graphical interface that is connected to the wallet. The term ‘human minable’ is used frequently by the developers and is actually an accurate statement.

Huntercoin is a very ambitious project. On the one hand it seeks to create an entirely new category of online multiplayer gaming which would eliminate the need for central servers and make it practically impossible to cheat. On the other hand, operating a game within the construct of a peer-peer crypto-currency could have all kinds of unintended consequences and will likely lead to a lot of similar projects. Actually, this is one of the first of many blockchain applications that will develop in the future.

Overall, there is a lot of excitement surrounding Huntercoin. According the developers, over 3000 people are now playing the so called MMOCG (massively multiplayer online crypto-currency game). The reaction to Huntercoin has been very positive as well. People are clearly attracted to this very original and innovative project.

This is by far the most interesting and inventive altcoin I’ve seen in the past year, but it has remained largely unnoticed amongst the flood of litecoin clones and pump&dump coins. HunterCoin is a fork of Namecoin that uses namecoin’s protocol not to resolve domain names, but to host a decentralized game that is played on top of the blockchain. Instead of mining, people can earn coins by playing the game.

This is one of the rare coins that I don’t have a lot of negative things to say about. The concept is really cool and unique. A bit silly, perhaps, for a currency, but I have no doubts that this coin will be popular. Even the mining aspect of this coin is unique. It can be mined via SHA256 or scrypt, and has seperate difficulties for each. This means that both ASICS and traditional GPU mining rigs are on equal footing here. Very cool.

However, I do have a gripe with the particulars of how it was implemented. The difficulty adjustment is based off the previous 2000 blocks and because of this, adjusts painfully slow. This caused it to be instamined to a very large degree. With a block time of 60 seconds, there should be about 9000 blocks out there right now… But due to the slow difficulty adjustment, there’s currently 39000 blocks. I generally hate this sort of thing, but I’m willing to overlook it due to the overall uniqueness of this coin.

HunterCoin has an extremely low block reward of 10 coins per minute, and there’s under 500,000 of them out there right now. At the current price of .0017 BTC, this gives it a current market cap of about $550,000. Compared to garbage litecoin clones like KittehCoin and Mooncoin which have over $2,000,000 market caps, HunterCoin is very underpriced in comparison. This is largely because it’s not on coinmarketcap or cryptsy yet, so it has little exposure. When it gets listed, watch the price explode. I’ll be stocking up in the meantime. This coin is a no-brainer for me. Unique concept + low market cap is what I love in a potential investment.

Microsoft adopting bitcoin

A blog post on December 11 from Microsoft quietly announced that its customers can now use bitcoin to purchase certain products through third party payment processor BitPay, which also supports tech sales site TigerDirect and Virgin’s space flight offshoot Virgin Galactic.

Microsoft made its announcement with little fanfare on its blog and slotted into the FAQ list of billing and payment queries. Despite the quiet rollout it did lead to the inevitable flurry of speculation and publicity. This is hardly surprising, when businesses announce they accept the decentralized cryptocurrency a headline is often a given.

However a company as large as Microsoft adopting bitcoin (for reference the currency itself is lower case but the blockchain coding is a proper noun) has been seen as further legitimation and may, some speculate, even lead to greater long term currency stability.

As yet only some content in the Windows Store, or in stores that house Xbox Games, Xbox Music or Xbox Video can be purchased with bitcoin. Users do not pay directly but rather add money to their Microsoft accounts, which then cannot be refunded. The service is US-only at this point and there is a $1,000 limit to how much money can be added to an account daily.

This isn’t a total surprise from the company. Bill Gates said back in October that he was in favor of bitcoin: “Bitcoin is better than currency in that you don’t have to be physically in the same place and of course for large transactions currency can get pretty inconvenient.”

Bitcoin news service CoinDesk opines that “Regardless of what the move means for Microsoft, this vote of confidence from a tech industry giant could have a wide range of effects on the bitcoin industry.”

Meanwhile BitPay has said that “Microsoft has a long-term vision for bitcoin, BitPay and the blockchain. Starting with digital goods in the US is the logical first step, however, they want to expand to Europe and globally and add support for other products as part of that rollout.”

Microsoft itself has been a little more circumspect, telling the Wall Street Journal that this constituted a toe-dip rather than the “aggressive” guns blazing suggested by excitable bitcoin users elsewhere. Either way this is a strong sign that bitcoin is maturing as a currency.

DarkCoin Foundation

The Foundation is an Arizona nonprofit corporation and future 501(c)(6) organization (hopefully–we are in the process of applying for recognition of exemption). Its purpose is to promote, protect and standardize Darkcoin. The Foundation doesn’t own the Darkcoin project–the community does. The Foundation is here to help. We believe that organizing fundraising efforts will be beneficial, but everyone is free to continue contributing in whatever manner is most convenient.

We have broken down the broad mission of promoting, protecting and standardizing Darkcoin into more specific objectives:

1. Support the development of the Darkcoin protocol. We must ensure that the development team has the resources it needs to maintain Darkcoin’s status as the most innovative cryptocurrency in the world.

2. Empower the community. Many members of the community already perform valuable tasks. Our goal is to assist them in as many ways as possible.

3. Educate the public. We will engage in educational and promotional activities in an effort to bring Darkcoin to a much wider audience.

4. Represent. The Foundation can speak for Darkcoin when and where such representation is appropriate.

Becoming a Member

There are two types of members: individual and industry. Individual members can choose to pay dues annually or become lifetime members. Both people and entities can become industry members. Neither class of members receives any perks, really, other than the right to vote for board directors (this may change when Darkcoin is on its way toward world domination). For now, it’s best to think of membership as an act of support.

We feel membership should be within the reach of as many people as possible, so one can join for as little as 10 DRK. This doesn’t mean that we can’t use additional funds–if you are able and willing, please consider donating more. If you aren’t interested in becoming a member but would like to donate, that is completely OK, too.

We want to be very open with the community, so please, feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. It’s your foundation. Propulsion has agreed to create a subforum on Darkcointalk.org for Foundation-specific discussions. This forum will be open to the public, but only members will be able to post.

The Internals

The Foundation is governed by its bylaws and a conflict of interest policy. These documents are available on our site for anyone that is interested. The board of directors holds meetings periodically, and is in regular contact when they are not meeting.

Foundation funds will be stored in multisignature wallets and all Foundation addresses will be public. Darkcoins will not be anonymized, so everyone will be able to see how they are being spent. Bitcoins will not be anonymized either … not that this is even possible!

Darkcoin ONYX V3

The Darkcoin team is hard at work behind the scenes most of the time, and they get a lot of help and feedback from various community members. A new version of Onyx has been released, which is version 3. In Onyx V3, a lot of improvement are included, so let’s take a closer look at what has changed exactly.

In one of our previous Darkcoin articles, we mentioned how Evan Duffield was working on a solution to deal with change after a transaction. A proposal was put forward, offering a potential solution in the form of change contracts for merchants.

Change has been completely removed from the equation by the DRK developers, and they have added a 0.1 DRK denomination. On top of that, clients are overpaying by an average of 0.05 DRK when executing a transaction anonymously through DarkSend. By eliminating change, the vulnerability of ‘dead change’ has been removed, and greater anonymity will be achieved.

The 500 DRK denomination has been removed in Onyx V3 as well. Furthermore, the 3 option payment combobox has been replaced with a more elegant (and easier to use) “DarkSend” checkbox, for all of your transaction anonymity needs.

A brand new feature has been added to this client , called DarkSend “unlock only to anonymize”. This feature has been suggested (and developed) by Darkcointalk member UdjinM6, and has been able to make the cut for the Onyx V3 client release.

Several DOS vulnerabilities have been fixed in this new client version. The masternode list can only be requested once per IP address per day from now. Collateral will now be checked for nLockTime, and Darksend/Collateral Outputs payments scripts are checked to make they are normal.

Last but not least, we also get some memory bandwidth improvements in Onyx V3. DarkSend transactions are now sent headers first, and full data is only requested once. This change will lead to a 80% decrease in bandwidth usage. On top of that, masternode pings are being broadcast to the network in a more efficient way.

Digitalcoin V3

The long awaited Digitalcoin V3 is upon us ladies and gentlemen, and it brings a lot of changes to this digital currency. Multiple mining algorithms are supported as of this release, new features have been added to the client, and a hard fork will be occurring.

The hard fork on the Digitalcoin blockchain has to do with the support for multiple mining algorithms. Once block 1,028,000 is reached, miners can choose to mine using Scrypt (as it is right now), SHA or X11. In order to switch to one of the newly supported algorithms, make sure to edit your Digitalcoin.conf file.

The reason for the change to multiple algorithms was announced a while ago, but the process has been sped up a bit because someone with a ton of Scrypt hashpower started mining DGC, thus bringing a security risk to the network. By offering multiple algorithms to mine on, this risk should be diminished fairly soon.

All three mining algorithms will work side by side, and each algorithm’s mining difficulty will be adjusted to be on par with the other two. Regardless of which mining algorithm is used, there should be only one block found every 40 seconds. It will be interesting to see how this will play out once the hard fork has occured.

The fork block will bring another change to the DGC network, as the block reward will be drastically reduced. Whereas each minted block gives a 15 Digitalcoin reward right now, this amount will be lowered to 5 DGC per block.

Make sure to download the new Digitalcoin client here :

BitBay client with HALO

While most cryptocurrency wallets out there offer a lot of different things, the new BAY client includes multi-signature support and Halo integration.

As we mentioned in our previous BitBay article, a client update would be released over the course of this weekend. A few hours ago, the update was released to the public through a BitcoinTalk post. THere was some confusion as the domain hosting the wallet also appeared to be a new BitBay website, but more on that in a little bit.

On to the new features then! There is something that caught my attention immediately, as soon as you open up the new BitBay client. On the right hand side, you will see a text box saying “Learn more about Halo”, with a “Video Library” button below it. Personally, I think it’s quite nifty how the team added this to the new client, as I’m sure lots of people will still have to get acquainted with Halo.

Speaking of the main client window, at the bottom in the middle you will see a section called “Smart Contracts”. In this part of the client, you will be able to keep track of your smart contracts once they have been completed (successfully or unsuccessfully).

As you may have guessed from the above paragraph, it is indeed possible to create smart contracts from the BitBay client. Whether you are a buyer or a seller, smart contracts can be created with just a few clicks, and will show up in the “Market” section of your client.

There is also a Chat tab to be found on the left hand side of your BitBay client. Unfortunately, this feature is not working as of this writing. All I get is a blank page and some text advertisements on the bottom, but I’m sure this will be fixed soon.

Last but not least, the new BAY client also feature a Contacts tab, where you can add contacts through an easy-to-use interface. In order to create a new contact, simply enter a username and their BitMessage and/or BitBay address, an email address (optional) , and you are all done.

When the new client download link was posted on BitcoinTalk, it pointed to TheBitBay.net, instead of TheBitBay.org where the previous client could be downloaded from.

It turns out TheBitBay.net is the new BitBay website, and it looks pretty near if you ask me. The design is made up of a nice theme, showing a major city in the background.

LiteCoin & DogeCoin 4 charity

Dogecoin and Litecoin members plan to announce a brand new initiative to both raise Christmas money for orphans in the Philippines and unite the crypto communities over a special cause.

The charity, deemed “Liteshibes4Christmas,” will launch on both the Litecoin subreddit and the Dogecoin subreddit, along with litecointalk.org. The hope is that this charity event will set precedent for all the digital currency communities to join forces and work together for good causes in the future, regardless of differences.

Andrew, also known in the Litecoin community as The Mage and newly appointed Director for the Litecoin Association, told CCN about how he felt about Liteshibes4Christmas:

“I have always been a big proponent of bringing all crypto communities together, and to me we are just two sides of the same coin, pun intended! I hope that this partnership will truly inspire other communities to proactively reach out to each other to forge friendships and partnerships in the future.”

According to Andrew, Litecoin creator Charlie Lee and Dogecoin co-creator Jackson Palmer both endorse the charity and the ideas behind it. The two coin communities clashed in the past over a debate on whether Dogecoin should setup a merge-mining operation, specifically with Litecoin.

Andrew said:

“The time has come to end the coin on coin hate so we can work together for a brighter future in order to bring the power of money back to the people.”

In addition to the donations, CryptoShirts created a special t-shirt to commemorate the event. Details of the charity event will be released at 8 a.m. EST, including the design of the special shirt and the goals for money raised.
