MidasCoin

Some bad news is coming from the MidasCoin corner. Apparently, all mining has been halted and the Gold Reserve is no longer being increased as we speak.

The developers are working on an emergency patch to fix some issues.

Poop hit the fan late last night it seems, as several people started trashing MidasCoin on BitcoinTalk. As this is nothing new in the world of cryptocurrency and altcoins, this is not the main cause for this pause in services.

A coordinated network attack was executed , with over 2,000 peers inflating a blank blockchain. Do not be alarmed, as they completely failed to generate any coins, which strikes me as unusual, but we’ll have to take the developer’s word for it at this point. No user balances were affected during this attack, and all coins are accounted for.

A discussion between the MidasCoin developer and early MID adopters ensued , and it was decided to pause all MidasCoin services for the time being. The developers are working on a full patch to fix all the issues, but no official ETA was given at this point.

If you are/were mining MidasCoin , please stop your rigs until further notice. The current round of mining shares will end once all miners have stopped mining. The MID Gold Reserve increments have also been paused for the time being, and will be resumed once it is safe to mine again.
