Worldcoin crypto-currency to see major improvements

The crypto-currency Worldcoin—praised by many for its extremely fast transaction times, at least 20x faster than Bitcoin—will be adding some important new features over the next few weeks.


The WDC developers are confident about releasing the major network upgrades by the end of April and an Android wallet shortly thereafter. Most of the upgrades—such as automatic checkpointing, super seed nodes, and a new difficulty algorithm—are part of project “Worldshield”, which is aimed at further increasing the security and integrity of Worldcoin.

Pavel Dolzhenko, a member of the Worldcoin Alliance Committee explains the reasons for these additions: “Numerous hardware manufacturers are currently developing ASIC miners for Scrypt-based crypto-currencies at high pace. Once these processing units are available, many—mostly new—crypto-currencies will be swept away because they lack proper protection mechanisms. Worldshield will not only prevent multipool abuse, 51% attacks, and other ASIC-generated disruptions, but it will also allow modifications to handle new threats as quickly as possible.”

In addition to the new features expected near the end of April, the Worldcoin Alliance just recently (April 3rd) released a crowdfunding platform where WDC users are able to introduce and support a variety of projects, many of them charitable. One such project, a water well in Kenya, has already been funded, and the borehole is expected to be completed by the end of September.
